Access to Justice through Alternative Providers: A Discussion

Legal aid organizations are doing incredible work in bridging the access to justice gap, with unparalleled commitment to our communities. But we are often under-resourced and overwhelmed by the need we see. Between 50-90% of those who seek support from legal aid are turned away for many reasons including income level, type of matter, or organizational capacity. State bar self-help resources are also crucial, but cannot fill the gap on their own.
Ultimately, we all want to increase the number of people receiving support. LSNTAP is working with Kelli Raker of Duke University School of Law and the Justice Tech Association on a resource that we hope will be a relevant, ethical resource for clients you are unable to serve.
