What is the Difference Between GoToMeeting and GoToWebinar?
Both products are excellent, but they serve different purposes. There are three considerations that would determine which one you should use:
Word vs. WordPerfect
A few weeks ago the Word vs. WordPerfect issue came up again on the LStech listserv. The question of which word processing program best serves the legal aid community has been discussed regularly on the list. Although legal aid still has some strong WordPerfect adherents, it seems that most legal aid techies now favor Word (or even Open Office or Google). We thought we'd summarize the discussion (with a little bit of added information) by comparing the two programs and discussing some additional considerations.

In this webinar Sandy Rylander walks us through the basics of what Excel’s Formulas and Functions are and how to get the most out of using them. We start at the ground level of what a formula is and how to add two cells together and build on that until we are using a variety of simple formula and functions. If you haven’t used them in Excel before this is the video to get you started.
On October 05, 2021, Sateesh Nori from The Legal Aid Society of NYC and Scott Ellis from The Michigan Advocacy Program shared tips for completely common tasks, like sharing and accessing client data, more securely.
You are serving clients in and out of the office. How can you be sure that you are keeping your clients' data safe? Are you taking advantage of the best tools for you and for your clients? Join us to learn more about how to work efficiently and collaboratively in and out of the office without sacrificing security.
You know about case management, document management, and records management. You use your knowledge of the law, the courts, and your clients to represent, educate, and defend them. Knowledge management is a way to address two critical facets of strategic, successful organizational management:
• Making the information that you manage more useful and accessible.
• Documenting the reasoning behind critical business decisions.
Who are the people you look to in the #LegalAid #LegalTech field? Has anyone been influential in shaping your philosophy? Who always seems to be on the cutting edge? Who is writing about tech for the legal aid/non-profit market? If there is a podcast, publication, or news source we should include, let us know.
Help us build a list of "people to follow" by filling out our form:
Where once the case book used to be a standard piece of equipment and decor for law offices, modern law offices rely on their tech stack to get things done. So, we have begun assembling this database for legal aid organizations to use as a springboard for their research on what technology product they could use to complete gaps in their tech stack or to replace aging solutions.
Today, we are launching our next crowdsourced database which will focus on technology based consumer self-help solutions. These may be things such as web based information hubs, online portals, or websites that help consumers complete paperwork. Examples include Upsolve, the Filing Fairness Project, or Michigan Legal Help. If it is out there and designed to help consumers with legal issues, we want to know about it and include it in the database.
As we continue building our tech stack database, I want to add a tech vendor and service provider database. We get so many requests for this information that it makes sense to create this resource. Knowing what your company's expertise is will also help LSNTAP better share opportunities.
1) Administering Google Apps is easy
The admin interface is dead-simple to use, and pretty self-explanatory. Everything you want to control for your domain has a button or switch in the back end.
The Admin Control Panel makes it far easier to navigate to key admin functions than any Microsoft server software. You can add, delete or suspend users, transfer ownership of all documents, create aliases, and change minimum password requirements.
