Mozy Over Where?

I was speaking to a coworker today and the subject of laptop replaceability surfaced.  My perspective, apart from the economic replacement cost, was that my notebook was mostly expendible because I back it up on-line.

The solution I use is Mozy free.  I find the ability to select file types and or directories to back-up essential for an "on the go" scenario.  While in the bay last week, I was writing something while my backup was running.  That made me reflect on how, partcularly for mobile workers, it is important to have intelligent applications which know when you're connected and what you're connected to.

Mozy is available for Windows and Mac OS.

Mozy has numerous write ups and I'm considering making it the replacement for tape in our environment. . .now I just need to convince the $$$ people to give some of that up.

In the comments, what do you all use?  In the past, for servers, I've been a huge fan of rsync.

The spouse has Carbonite running here at home. I don't know how it compares. I know it isn't free.
