Legal Workstation Evaluation Components
This set of evaluation instruments is designed to assist TIG grantees that provide legal workstations to facilitate access to a broad range of materials, resources and tools that will strengthen clients' knowledge of the legal system, legal processes, their legal rights, how to gain access to legal services, and pro se resources. PLEASE NOTE: These instruments were revised slightly in September 2003. For a full list of the instruments available, scroll down.
Legal Workstation Overview (Word Doc). This Word document is two pages and provides an overview of the evaluation tools, how and when to use them, and toward what end. The components listed in the overview document include:
A. Technology Inputs:
- Outreach: (Word Document: Legal Workstation Outreach Checklist) This checklist helps you examine your program’s efforts to market and publicize your workstations.
- Accessibility: (Word Documents: Legal Workstations Accessibility Checklist and Legal Workstations User Survey) These checklists help you examine whether the workstations are located in areas where the targeted population can access them and whether they are accessible to persons with disabilities.
- Usability: (Word Documents: Legal Workstations Usability Checklist, Legal Workstations Assistance Tally Worksheet, Legal Workstations Community Provider Survey, and Legal Workstations User Survey.) These tools help you examine whether targeted users are able to use the workstations and obtain help using them.
B. Actual Use of the Technology (Word Document: Legal Workstation Sign-In Sheets) This sheet helps you examine whether targeted population is using the workstations.
C. User Satisfaction with the Technology (Word Document: Legal Workstation User Survey) This survey helps you examine whether users are satisfied with the workstations.
D. Outcomes from Use of Technology (Word Document: Legal Workstation User Survey) This survey also helps you examine whether workstations provide legal information access to the targeted population.
