Training Materials: CMS103: Selecting and Implementing a Computerized Case Management System (2004)

Introduction: This training covers how to select and implement a case management system. We will also review some of the many available CMS features and characteristics.

Overview of Training: An outline is available to the Right. The content of this training is a compilation of several trainings offered on this topic by NTAP since 2004.

Materials and Recording: A PowerPoint was created for the training. Also, in 2007, NTAP with Julia Gordon offered a specific training to all Texas legal aid programs on selecting a case management system. The original PPT was modified slighty and is available here: PowerPoint for Texas Programs. (Or PDF)

In addition, we have compiled the content of the training into an online book. See links to the Right. There is no recording available for this session.

Session Goals:

  • To provide a basic understanding of the technical background necessary to make an informed decision about a CMS.
  • To become aware of the CMS options currently available to the legal aid community.
  • To consider the factors necessary to make a CMS decision.
