Alison Paul, Board Chair Alison Paul is the Deputy Director of Grants and Administration of the Montana Legal Services Association in Helena, Montana, where she oversees all of MLSA's technology projects. Prior to coming to Montana, Alison attended law school at the University of Kansas, and was in private practice in Chicago, Illinois, primarily advising tax-exempt organizations on tax and corporate issues. Alison received the 2005 NLADA Innovations in Equal Justice Award for her innovative use of technology to serve MLSA's low income clients, including her development of MLSA's court-based video conferencing project and Hot Docs web-based document assembly system for pro se family law forms. Alison is the current co-chair of the NLADA Technology Committee.
Gwendelyn Daniels, Treasurer Gwen Daniels is the Director of Technology Development at Illinois Legal Aid Online, a leader in the national legal aid community on using and developing online tools that promote advocacy, collaboration, and information sharing among legal aid lawyers, pro bono attorneys, and clients in Illinois. Prior to working at Illinois Legal Aid Online, Gwen spent eight years at the Sargent Shriver National Center on Poverty Law in various roles including Manager of Finance and Technology, Systems Analyst, and Network Administrator. Gwen's vision has helped shape many of NTAP's projects -- its website, the National Document and Information Sharing Project (RSS/XML), and more. Gwen also plays a large role among other legal aid techies as a go-to on technology development and planning. She received her J.D. from Depaul University and also has a B.B.A. in Accounting.
Hugh Calkins, Secretary Hugh Calkins is the Director of Research and Development for Pine Tree Legal Assistance, a statewide legal services provider in Maine. He also acts as a technology consultant to national organizations – the National Legal Aid and Defender Association and Management Information Exchange – as well as to legal aid programs around the country. Hugh joined the legal services community in 1969 after receiving his Ju.D. from University of Colorado. His work and leadership in Maine have resulted in a statewide video conferencing system used among courts and legal aid providers, and a statewide legal help website that receives over one million visits a year.
John Girard, Board Member John Girard is the founder and CEO of Clickability. Under his leadership Clickability has grown from a garage-based dream of four Stanford graduates, to become the most successful single-source provider of hosted web publishing technologies. The biggest names in publishing, including the Wall Street Journal, CNN Interactive and Popular Mechanics, rely on Clickabilitiy's on-demand content management applications to deliver the news to millions of readers each day. As CEO of Clickability, Girard's primary responsibilities include product and partnership strategies and fundraising.
Ed Marks, Board Member
Ed Marks has been actively involved in legal services for the past twenty years. Currently, Ed is the Litigation Director for Legal Aid of Western Ohio. He is responsible for supervision, planning and co-counseling for major litigation and other advocacy activities for an LSC-funded legal services program covering northwestern and west central Ohio; and for coordinating outreach and collaboration with community agencies, bar associations, courts, social service agencies, funding sources and other individuals and groups interested in provision of legal services to low-income persons. Ed is the recipient of Ohio State Bar Foundation’s 2006 Outstanding Public Service Award. Prior to this position, Ed was the Managing Attorney for Advocates for Basic Legal Equality (ABLE) in Toledo, where he created and managed intake, advice, and referrals for more than 25,000 low-income clients per year.
In prior positions, Ed has worn nearly every hat in legal services: executive director, staff attorney, managing attorney, and innovator.
David Godfrey, Board Member
David is a Senior Attorney, American Bar Association, Commission on Law and Aging, Washington DC. Previously he was the managing attorney for the Access to Justice Foundation in Kentucky, where he was responsible for the operation of the Legal HelpLine for Older Kentuckians. He was also a consultant trainer for the AARP Foundation National Legal Training Project specializing in topics related to elder abuse and guardianship. David is a frequent speaker on elder law topics at continuing legal education and community education programs. David earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree with honors in Organizational Communications from Rollins College, in Winter Park, Florida, and his J.D. cum laude from the Brandeis School of Law at the University of Louisville. David is admitted to practice in Kentucky and the Sixth Circuit Federal Courts. David is a member of the American Bar Association, the Kentucky Bar Association, The Fayette County Bar Association and the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys.
Sue Encherman, Board Member
Sue is Director of Administration, Northwest Justice Project, Seattle, WA. Sue also serves as a Board Member of the Legal Aid for Washington Fund and on the Administrators group at Management Information Exchange. She is a frequent trainer at NLADA, MIE and TIG conferences and often contributes to NTAP’s many advisory committees.
Mike Monahan, Board Member
Mike is the Pro Bono Director at State Bar of Georgia Pro Bono Project/ Georgia Legal Services Program, Atlanta Georgia. Previously Mike was a Managing Attorney, Supervising Attorney and Staff Attorney at Georgia Legal Services Program. He earned his JD at the West Virginia University College. Mike is a frequent presenter at NLADA and TIG conferences and often contributes to NTAP’s many advisory committees.
David B. Neumeyer, Board Member
David is the Executive Director of the Virginal Legal Aid Society, Lynchburg, VA. David has served on the Virginia Bar Association Community Service Program. He earned his JD at the University of Maine, and his undergraduate degree at Brown University. VLAS partners with NTAP on several TIG grants including XML and Help Desk.
Stephanie L. Kimbro, Board Member
Stephanie is a Partner at Kimbro Law, www.kimbrolaw.com - A NC Virtual Law Office and www.virtuallawpractice.org - Virtual Law Practice Blog. She is also a faculty member at Solo Practice University. Stephanie was recently awarded the winner of the 2009 American Bar Association Keane Award for Excellence in ELawyering and been featured in articles in the ABA Journal Lawyers USA and NC Lawyers Weekly. Stephanie graduated from the University of Dayton School of Law, obtained her Master's Degree from Miami University of Ohio and her Bachelor's Degree from Centre College in Kentucky. She is a member of the American Bar Association, the North Carolina Bar Association, including the Bar Association's Estate Planning Section, and is an active member of the N.C. Bar Association's Young Lawyer's Internet Committee. In June she presented at NTAP’s Executive Leadership Roundtable.
Molly French, Board Member
Molly is Technology Unit Manager, Colorado Legal Services, Denver Colorado. Molly also serves as a Website Consultant and Editor at OK Marketing . She serves on the advisory committee for Kemps Case Works and is a member of the Colorado Access to Justice Education Committee. Previously she was a Marketing Director at Anchor Sales Company and Editorial Assistant at the Graduate School Publications at University of Alabama at Birmingham. She earned her M.A. and B.A. at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. . Molly is a frequent presenter for MIE, NLADA and TIG conferences and often contributes to NTAP’s many advisory committees. Colorado Legal Services partners with NTAP on the TIG funded Technology Leadership and Website grant.
