ShareLaw and ShareLawVideo

Hello everyone,
I just wanted to quickly highlight a new initiative that I just heard about at the LSC TIG Conference: ShareLaw and ShareLawVideo presented by Vince Morris from Arkansas Legal Services Partnership and Kristin Verrill with Atlanta Legal Aid Society. The overall goal of both of these websites is to increase resource sharing among legal aid organizations with ShareLaw focusing on content sharing and ShareLawVideo focusing on video resources sharing.
ShareLaw will be compatible with both DLAW and ProBono Net’s content management systems (although it is currently only available with DLAW) with the content organized into the NSMI categories. This resource should be seen as a consolidator and aggregater of general legal aid resources as content managers can find, copy, and edit resources that they find useful on this website. If you are interested in sharing content, please contact Vince for the necessary Drupal module (PBN’s should be incoming shortly).
ShareLawVideo is very similar to ShareLaw in philosophy but has a different interface and deals solely with videos. This product came about because there are a fairly large number of legal aids who are interested in making (more) videos, but no centralized resource. With ShareLawVideo, users can share anything from raw footage to final cuts that can then be downloaded and edited by another user. For example, Kristin used the footage from a video by Illinois Legal Aid Online about foreclosures and was able to drastically cut down on the production time of an Arkansas specific video because all she had to do was make a few edits and record her own custom audio. Also included on this site are training guides on how to create, edit, and host legal aid videos.
Here’s a quick snapshot of their media library interface:
While both of these sites are currently in Beta, they can be really useful resources and will hopefully drastically cut down on the amount of repeat work done by legal aid organizations done around the country.
