Did You Know? (The Elder Statesman, March 2009)

Kathleen Caldwell IM'd me from the TIG Conference in Austin and extracted a promise that I'd revive the Elder Statesman blog. My problem is that I think too much about what I want to say to be a good blogger. I am working on a couple of longer postings, but in the mean time, here's a short one:

My brother forwarded me this video from YouTube (link). Sony played it at their Executive Conference this year. It's something we should make each of our Executive Directors watch (and the folks upstairs at LSC). It's less than five minutes and it's kind of fun.

I'm sure that almost everyone who frequents the NTAP site knows legal aid technology is far more valuable to our clients and our organizations than is reflected in our budgets. We need to do a better job of helping our organizations be aware of the value and importance of what we do.

Maybe we (meaning someone other than me) should put together a presentation that makes that point and force feed it at ED conferences and meetings.

Yay! The return of Hugh!

Yay! The return of Hugh!

I saw this video a while ago, and it definitely highlighted the importance of what we do here - if you understand what we're doing as trying to help people and programs adapt to and really use new technology and new media which is becoming central to our culture.

But it also made me want to hide under the table a little.  I definitely didn't understand where this was going when I got my first email account in 1989. I thought playing around on bulletin boards was going to be strictly for fun.
