In March 2008, Michael Bowen posted an inquiry to the LStech email list asking techies to let him know if they'd installed a new case management system in the last few years, and if so, what their old system had been. In two or three days he received 21 responses from programs in 16 states and two Canadian provinces. This data is not representative of a wide enough sampling to reveal trends of the community, but does show the results of the 21 responses in aggregate.
Poll results show that for these programs:
- There is diversity in CMS software among the respondents; the 21 respondents mention 12 different commercial case management programs.
- Programs who responded noted that they were changing to a case management system that was different from what they had prior. For example, 11 respondents indicated that their old CMS had been a Kemps product; eight of these programs changed their case management system to another service.
